Our third trip to the National Story Telling Festival, held every October, in Jonesborough TN was better than ever! The town of Jonesborough is filled with interesting folks in October and most likely all year round! The Story Telling Festival is pure fun. There is great food, great weather, shopping, and wonderful people. What does one do at this festival? Well, there are "tellers" and "listeners". The listeners choose from 5 concurrent "tellers", pick a tent, listen for an hour and laugh and cry and enjoy. In this age of digital media, storytelling is difficult to describe, but well worth your consideration. Check it out. You will be glad that you did.

Otherwise known as Thunder Valley, the Bristol Motor Speedway has been voted the most popular track by NASCAR fans for the longest time now. The 0.533-mile concrete oval of the Bristol Motor Speedway is famous for its short track slugfesting and crash filled events.

The Carnegie Hotel is your break from the norm as far as chain hotels. The older style offers a certain charm. As for me, the best part of my stay was visiting the Spa located inside the Carnegie. The Day Spa staff was wonderful and attentive. Upon arrival they offered you a drink or whatever you needed to be more comfortable. When called back for the treatments, you are lead into private rooms that are reminiscent of the 1920s (at least the rooms reminded me of that). That is not to say that they weren't wonderful and luxurious, but that it gave you that classic feel, which I liked and found unique from other spas that I have been to. The pedicure I received was wonderful and pampering (which of course, it should be). It was nice to relax and be pampered by a friendly, attentive staff. They make you feel important and leave you refreshed.
